Work Experience
Oct 2012 – present: Product People Limited, Founder & Director
Product management coaching, consulting and training company with 120+ clients in the private and public sectors.
- Fractional product leader for startups, scale-ups and established companies
- Researched and delivered a data visualisation product for Girl Hub & NIKE Foundation to help charities and non-governmental organisations in Rwanda know what projects each was working on and where
- Coached and managed the product team, established the first cross-government product community, and successfully recruited a permanent civil servant to replace me as head of product community for UK’s Ministry of Justice
- Did the same for Government Digital Service, this time for 150+ product managers and service managers across the whole of UK central government; wrote and delivered product management training for a cohort of 100+ junior civil servants
- Turned around a failing project team for University of Cambridge Information Services to deliver self-service Dropbox for staff and students; built a community
- Coached 50+ companies and individual product professionals so far (associate product managers to chief product officers) in product management and leadership
- Interviewed product managers and directors on behalf of clients lacking in-house product expertise
- Authored and delivered original product management training for several clients including Mind The Product, BBC Academy, General Assembly
2008 – 2012: Experian QAS (now Experian Data Quality), Senior Product Manager
A multinational business unit within Experian group providing data products and services to organisations in the private, public and third sectors.
- Turned around loss-making product to £1M revenue stream within 2 years
- De facto head of product: responsible for three product managers, 20 software products, 40 data products, £1.5M development budget, £56M annual revenue
2008: Cyberview Technology Limited (now part of IGT), Product Manager
Provider of touchscreen gaming machines, management platform software and game content to licenced gambling companies in UK and Europe.
- Established product management practices as de facto head of product responsible for business analyst, technical author and data scientist
2006 – 2008: Iron Mountain Europe, Product Manager
One of the world’s largest physical information storage and records management companies.
- Responsible for eSearch archive management product used primarily by film and sound, and oil and gas market sectors
2004 – 2006: Zeus Technology Limited, Product Marketing Manager

Software company providing performance web server and load balancing products to high demand organisations including BBC News, eBay and Comic Relief.
- Various roles in scale-up before promotion to product marketing manager: technical support, presales consultant, product trainer, web application developer, IT manager
- As product marketing manager, was responsible for external product messaging, thought leadership content and user research; won an award for one of my white papers
